Who's the cutest girl around?

I am a mom of a cutie pie (very biased). And I wanted to share my experiences with others (including my cuties grandparents, great-grandparents, numerous uncles and other relatives). I love being a mom and can't imagine doing anything else.

Mid-day update

So far today has just gone great. She is now off of all the machines. Just her central line remains. No monitors either. Her oxygen saturation on room air is between 98 and 100 percent. So no oxygen needed. i got to give her her first bottle in 2 days and she gulped it down (great sign) So for now at least we know that she isn't feeling sick.

Pray for good news from her oncologist today. There is one kind that she could have that you just take a drug by mouth and go home. CRAZY!! I don't want to get my hopes up since it isn't the most likely. But miracles are possible. She is a miracle to us.

For those who dont' know our story, we had a hard time getting pregnant and finally went to a specialist. We had a miscarriage early and couldnt' concieve for a year after that. We went to a Dr and got pregnant the first month. Most of the time it takes longer than that. So Alivia has been a miracle from the beginning.

I have a few things that I would really use. I am going to list them and then if you are coming to visit and want to bring one of them that would be great. Just call Jamie Sentz (413-2537) if you are bringing it so I dont' end up with 10 of each things.

-pink and blue pair of flip-flops from Old Navy (2 for $5) for the shower (size 8)
-shampoo and conditioner (Aussie brand) Walmart has big bottles for a good price
-Chapstick (blistex medicated...comes in a litte blue tub) I lost mine one a walk yesterday.

here are my thanks so far for the day. We got mail and it was so great. (Marmie, Lisa, Yoders, Moores, Matt and Viv...thanks for the pictures Eden and Nicholas, Kathy Booker) Bill and cynthia for bring lunch AGAIN and dinner last night was great thanks james and Pauline.
continued thanks to jamie for being my organizer. And to April, Leslie and Rachel for listening to me rant on the phone. Also thanks to Bev and Jess for stopping by. Anyone who comments on the blog...I read them all over and over. I have felt so loved these last few days! God is using you all mightily in my life.

It seems that I'm not alone. I am in the camp w/ Les, not getting any housework done..just praying, crying, reading scriptures, compiling encouraging thoughts to send your way, checking the blog, talking and praying with others for ya'll and crying some more...that pretty much sums up my week so far.

So, you're not alone, my dear friend. The measure of grace being poured out on you and your family is truly unfathomable.

I am so blessed to just read the comments folks are sending your way consistently; I pray you feel the waterfall of mercy and grace you are standing under right now.
What a testimony to the watching world.

And, what grace that you are able to enjoy your little girl in between the tests and even in the hospital environment. I've been praying that God would stengthen you in order to establish a happy, peaceful atmosphere for Livi. She will certainly pick up on your spirit and mood. What a means of grace you are to your little girl. Folks are right when they say that you are the absolute perfect mommy for Livi.

The boys and I prayed through Ps. 139 this morning as I held your family photo up for the boys to see who we were praying for. We inserted Alivia's name throughout the Psalm. I encourage you to do this as I believe it will bring great comfort to you and your little girl.

I am praying for faith for you today, for as I read in "Beside Still Waters" this afternoon,
faith will "transfer your back breaking load to the great Burden bearer". You have a back breaking load, but remember that Christ's "back" was broken so that yours would not be this very day.

Love you so much!

I have been singing "Not to Us" all day, reminded of the theme verse at your wedding, Ps. 115:1. Do you remember that?
It made a lasting impression on me that ya'll chose that and I can distinctly remember thinking at that time, "I wonder how this will play out in their lives".
Of course there have already been many ways you have brought glory to God through your marriage.
Remember today that this trial with Livi is a part of God answering your and James' fervent cry on your wedding day, "Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness."

Hi Emily,

I was so glad when Les told me you had this blog. I have been wondering how you and Livi are doing and I am so glad that things are going well for you today. I have also been distracted from my work only at the office, reading your blog, and crying. Andrew and I have been praying for you guys constantly and our parents and siblings are too. We hope to see you soon!

Love,
Sonya

Hey Emily,

I'm so glad you got to hold her today. Give her kisses from Marmie and I. You're in our thoughts and hearts and prayers constantly. Hope to see ya Friday. I'll see what I can do about your requests. So what if you get 10 of each. They won't go bad; or you could share them. Oh yeah, if you get a chance, if you have any pics, haven't seen any in awhile. You had warned about certain ones but I just want to see her little face.

Hugs and love and kisses and smiles and tears,

(Aunt) Lisa

Emily,
I am so thankful that you have this blog. I feel like I know what is going on. I wish that I could come and visit and give you a big hug. Unfortunately I have a cold. Just as soon as I am better I will up to see you. You all have been on our hearts and in our prayers. We will continue to pray that God is glorified and that your baby girl is miraculously healed. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding."

Hello Emily
We've never met, but my heart feels a connection with yours. Angie Stoltzfus & Tina Lapp, both terrific friends of mine have shared your story with me and I can't express the ache I feel for you and the journey you are on!! I can't and would never say I can relate to all you're going through, because I cannot, but my husband & I have also dealt with a hardship of our own recently and the loss our first born son this past October.
I write to offer you encouragement, because I've seen first hand what the love & support of family & friends can pull you through. As well as the faithfulness of God! I've seen, through Angie & Tina, that you are deeply loved and being supported & prayed for. I want you to know, even though we've never met, you & your husband and your little girl, Alivia, are in my prayers!
I pray God's peace, his rest and an abundance of STRENGTH!
From one Mom to another,
Kara Stoltzfus

Emily,

My name is Erica Colt. I am a friend of April Spinetti. I think that we met once one of Samuel and Grace's parties. April has let me know about your situation and your blog. I just wanted to let you know that my heart goes out to you and your family. I have been praying for Alivia. And last night at our small group bible study we prayed for Alivia and your family. I work here at Hershey Medical Center, down in the University Physician's Center as an audiologist (hearing). If there is anything that I can do for you don't hestitate to give me a call--even if its running to the cafeteria over lunch and bringing something up for you guys. My extention at the hospital is 6800.

"My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever" Psalm 73:26

God Bless, Erica

Emily,
Hi, I am Angie Stoltzfus's Sister. She has shared with me your story and asked me to pray. I just got threw reading over your last few days and my heart aches for you. I too am a mother (I have a four month old).

This morning I was reading out of James and this will be my prayer for you today....

Father as your presence and nearness surround James, Emily and Alivia, I ask for wisdom which you give generously to those who ask. Father I ask you to give wisdom in generous portions to the Dr.'s, Lord Pour your wisdom out on your beloved. Would you comfort Emily, James and Alivia bring peace and joy as they walk through this day, Father I ask you to give them endurance, and through this situation that you would be shown as perfect and complete, a father lacking in nothing. You are the giver of good gifts, you have blessed James and Emily with this little girl, thank you for your love, your power your mercy and grace.

Emily I live in Colorado, I wish I was closer to be able to help you guys out but know I will be praying for you.

Dear Emily,
As I sit here and read all of your blog entries I just cry and pray, cry and pray! I have enjoyed reading your previous blog enteries from January on and I think wow we go to the same church, sit in the same nursing mom's room and I feel like I barely know you. As I have spent hours reading I can't wait to be your friend!!! You take life and enjoy every moment even if you have been up all night with an unhappy baby. (I understand the not having sleep in days) :) I admire you so much. You have amazing strength and FAITH! WOW what LOVE you have for your sweet little baby! Thank you for a great example you are to me during this time! God has and will continue to work miracles in your life my dear! God bless you and may you have great strength, peace and trust in our sweet saviour! He loves You, James and Alivia so much!!! HE is by your side holding your HAND every step of the way!
