Who's the cutest girl around?

I am a mom of a cutie pie (very biased). And I wanted to share my experiences with others (including my cuties grandparents, great-grandparents, numerous uncles and other relatives). I love being a mom and can't imagine doing anything else.

Surgery update

Alivia is still in surgery as of now (3:17) and we haven't heard anything. She didn't go in until around 2 because there was an emergency surgery that took our OR. She did an amazing job without food. She was happy, silly, funny and smiley almost the entire morning. She let the doctors check her out (only cried when they looked in her mouth), got accessed, took some meds and went back to surgery.

Best news of the day so far was there her blood counts were good enough not to need a transfusion. They thought that 50 would be a good enough number...she would need a transfusion but that would be a good starting point...but she was 100. So she didn't even need any tranfusion. Her WBC's were 16.7 and RBC's (hemocrit) 10.2. All in all pretty good numbers.

There is talk that she might be intubated when she comes out of surgery. Pray that everything goes so well that she won't have to be. Also they talked of giving her an epidural if the pain was too much. We really dont' want that so pray they can control her pain with morphine. the spleen is very vascular so pray the bleeding is minimual and that they fluid levels aren't too much or too little. Pray that her body recovers quickly and she will be able to eat again.

I miss my girl and can't wait to hold her again. I don't do well with being away from her even when we leave her with someone we know and love (like my parents...or even James) she is one of my best friends, my favorite people and I hate being away from her on a normal day. thanks for all of your prayers and well wishes so far. It is amazing to know that you are all out there praying for our sweet girl.

Emily,

Thanks for the update. We're chomping at the bit here in Pittsburgh. It's so hard not being there physically to support you. Sounds like things got off to a good start with the counts and praying hard and trusting that everything else will be positive.

it's so lame of me, but that's what I was worried about "how could she go that long without food". Sweet baby didn't even care. What a trooper. Thanks for the update and praying for no epidural needed.

James & Emily,
We have been praying for your sweet baby all day! Thank you so much for your update! I'm so happy to hear she has been doing well so far! We've been talking and thinking of you the entire day! Dear Jesus please heal this baby, Livi & help her tonight to not be in much pain & that during this recovery that she can be full of her silly spunk & fun loving girl that she is. Give James & Emily stronger faith in you & help them to trust that their daughter is in the best hands, Our Mighty healer Jesus!! I pray Lord you would work a miracle tonight! In Jesus name, Amen.
Get some rest & be assured that He does hear our prayers. There are 500 people at CrossWay praying & all of your family & friends back home along with tons of people who don't even know you! You both are a wonderful, loving & great Daddy & Mommy to Alivia! Thanks for being such a great example to all of us! God bless you! Love Hannah, Scott, Tirzah & Naomi Byers

thanks for keeping us posted. it helps so much those of us who are far away. thanks too for all the great pictures. I have never been so thankful for the internet until Alivia started to get sick. Now it is a life saver for me. It brings you all up close and personal and helps us to know how to pray. Which I am doing now. I'm afraid I'm going to have to call Bill or somebody cause I can't even wait now for the next blog (you've spoiled me)to hear how the surgery went.
