Who's the cutest girl around?

I am a mom of a cutie pie (very biased). And I wanted to share my experiences with others (including my cuties grandparents, great-grandparents, numerous uncles and other relatives). I love being a mom and can't imagine doing anything else.

Day +39

The results from Seattle are in and Alivia does have GVHD (graft versus host disease). They have already started treatment (large doses of steriods) and we are hopeful that it will clear up quickly. The stomach has GVHD already and the colon was swollen which is the sign that it will be starting soon. Now we know why she is stooling so much and why she doesn't want to eat. Not eating was her bodies way of protecting itself. Even when she was hungry her stomach told her not to eat. Pray that it is easily controlled, that it doesn't affect her esophogus, lungs, or skin. And pray that it is the acute form...not the chronic.

Thanks to
Joanne Mimi Yen Ayers for the card and stickers
Kathy Booker for the card, stickers and article
Marmie for both of the cards
The Teeter family for the cute photos, card and stickers
MaryAnn Kisic for the card for the nurses

I pray that she beats the GVHD. She's such a trooper and I hope God gives her and your family the strength and will to pull through. I wish I could do more or give more to help Livi get better.

Just one more hurdle-She's a miracle baby-there is no doubt that she'll get over this one too! I'll be praying that this clears up and isn't chronic.

Praying that the steroids do the trick as quickly as possible, and that she can get back to eating and wanting to eat as soon as possible. Praying it isn't chronic and for strength for each of you as you face another mini-trial in this huge battle.

We are praying for strength as you go through this. I was reading in Romans yesterday morning and I thought of you and James and Alivia and the whole family.

Romans 5:1-5
1.Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2.through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of he glory of God. 3. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4. perseverance, character; character, hope. 5.And hope does not disapoint us. Because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whome he has given us.

Emily, James, I see this in you during this trail in your life. I have seen perseverance, character, and hope. Through your writings on this blog. You are an amazing example to me and I know to many others. May you continue to look to the Lord.

Still praying in WV

Praying that she'll beat the GVHD. Poor girl, feeling hungry. Reading that just brings tears to my eyes. I was at a MOPS meeting this morning, and some friends came up to me & said they found your blog through a link on mine. They read your blog & are praying, as so many in WV you'll never meet. Love & prayers, Beth Chase

Emily,
I thank God that the staff sent the test to Seattle so that Alivia can be treated quickly for the (somewhat elusive) GVHD.
Will continue to pray that the steriod treatment works and the God heals Alivia completely!

Not the news we were hoping to hear, but information is power. Now you and the docs know what needs to be addressed, and the rest of us in God's army know where to put the crosshairs of our prayers.

Emily, My first reaction was ohhhhhh, Noooooo!! Poor baby Alivia. I am so thankful that the lab was able to detect the early signs of GVHD. We will be praying that meds will definitely take care of the situation. We think about you all the time and pray for you and your family. Yesterday Izaak told me that Baby Livi was coming over to his house to play with the toys in the basement. She's one of his imaginary friends. He picks her up, carries her around and talks to her about golf, baseball, mowing and throwing balls. She's quite the friend, your little girl. Truly, she's so precious- but I guess you knew that eh?
Love, Avia

James, Emily and Alivia,

My prayer to God for you today from Psalm 28:8-9.

The Lord is the strength of his people; He is the saving refuge of his anointed.

Oh, save your people and bless your heritage! Be their shepherd and carry them forever.

praying,
Sara
